19 Jul Top 10 Men’s Fitness Blogs for 2022
In my mind without a shadow of doubt the two biggest problems in the fitness industry are “Fitness Guruisum” & “Fitness Virtue Signalling”. fitness blogs are where you find some of the biggest offenders.
– Fitness Guruisum: A guru is a leader or teacher people look up too and look to guide them. The problem is anyone with abs and an instagram following can now be a guru or expert regardless if they know what they are talking about, have worked in the field or have ever got someone real results. Just because you look good doesn’t men you can help other people do the same.
– Fitness Virtue Signalling is a term used to describe people who publicly express their opinion in a way to make themselves look morally superior and enhance their own image.
Die Hard...
We have die-hard keto advocates, intermittent fasters, or vegan extremists who will evangelise for their particular nutritional cult and try to make you feel inferior for not being a member.
Or die-hard westside Barbellers who fight with The Cube, 5-3-1, or Boris Sheiko’s. Crossfitter fight against functional dudes and Sport performance specialists dissing bodybuilder.
It’s kinda laughable to be honest, But confusing as fuck for the average man looking to educate himself.
Back when I was getting started learning about fitness, health and exercise.
– FaceBook didn’t exist
– YouTube didn’t exist
– Instagram didn’t exist
We had dial up internet connection {Remember that} which meant anything you did read online most likely came from an expert.

If you are over 30 years old you remember the pain of dial up right?
We actually had to read book, and back then if you wrote a book you where 100% an expert in your field, the first two books I read where Bruce Lee’s “The Art of Expressing the Human Body” and Arnold Schwarzenegger
“The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding: The Bible of Bodybuilding” I literally went through these books page by page with a pen notebook and highlighter and took notes and tested everything the legends suggested.
Fast forward 20-25 years and now the information is vast and constantly growing.
When I look to learn from someone I want to know.
1. They are an expert.
2. And they train real people.
3. Do they get proven results.
4. They are open and willing to learn and grow themselves.
Now… everyone on the list below fulfils the above criterion in buckets, I have personally learnt from all these men face to face, They’ve coached me or I’ve purchased their products.
Additionally they are true innovators in the field of Fitness and S&C, Dig in and let me know what you think.

Ross Training {Ross Enamait}
Expertise: Combat Sports
I first came across Ross's work RossBoxing back in the early 2000 when I was looking to improve my S&C specifically for boxing, at the time most of the info on the interwebz was complete bull shit, with the exception of Ross's site. Ross combined real world experience with actual sports science.
I remember ready about Mel SIFF and Supertraining well before most coaches spoke about this work.
Ross site is full of cool content for fighter and weekend warriors alike, he has loads of cool videos on how to make home training equipment {I made a slosh pipe and DIY TRX} back in the day from follow Ross's YouTube Videos.
Ross is also a bad ass and leads by example which I hugely respect, watch any of his videos and you'll know what I mean... I dare you to try some of the ab wheel rollout challenges. If you like his content you'll love his books.
And if all that isn't enough he's now Katie Taylor's coach.

The Ready State {Kelly Starrett}
Expertise: Pain Free Movement
An olympic lifter/ Crossfitter friend of mine "Dee" introduced me to Mobility Wod and Kelly back in 2010. I'll be honest I was like WTF is this all about, Mobility, Bands, Lacrosse Balls... It was all alien to me.
Since then, Kelly in my opinion has totally revolutionised the fitness industry and helped both athletes and weekend warriors unlock their through potential through quality movement
The Ready State began as MobilityWOD in 2008. And for over a decade, has pioneered new methods to help athletes with their movement, mobility, and recovery.
They worked with Olympic gold medalists, UFC champions, and dozens of other pro sports organisations. But at its core, Their message was always focused on helping you be more ready…
…Ready for your next race. Ready for your next workout. Ready to run around with your kids. Ready for anything life throws your way. So we branched out and started to cover other key topics — like sleep, down-regulation, nutrition, and more. Their goal is to help you #LiveReady in every part of your life.

Complete Human Performance {Alex Viada}
Expertise: Multi Sports Athletes
Alex is kinda like the Duck-Billed Platypus of the fitness industry at first sight his training methods might look like they shouldn't work, Like how the hell do you train for a powerlifting meet and a triathlon at the same time? It's impossible right? Wrong... Alex actually wrote the book on it "The Hybrid Athlete" which is a must ready for anyone interested in multi sports.
Alex and his team train everyone from Aerobic athletes, Obstacle course racers, Powerlifters to Special Forces and weekend warriors looking to push their limits.
Make sure to check out his training templates and online coaching and for any coaches "The Hybrid Academy" is well worth the investment.

T Nation
Testosterone Nation is a bit of a mixed bag these days, as the site has grown they need to produce more content and as a result the quality has dropped in the last few years in my opinion.
That being said there is still huge value on the site especially the older content, Most of the guy above have contributed to the site for years.
Here's who I'd search and learn from first.
Now before you reject the idea of reading these older articles just remember 99.9% of this content is relevant today, it might even be more relevant because there wasn't a much B.S and Guruism back then.
Check out the content here: https://www.t-nation.com/

Eoin Lacey
Expertise: Functional Medicine, Strength & Conditioning
Eoin content mightn't be suited to the general pop, it's more applicable to coaches that being said if you've been around the block training wise and want to educate yourself Eoin is the, I can't remember at this stage how many of Eoin's seminars I've attended...
But I can guarantee I've left everyone smarter. And on a personal level I hugely respect what Eoin has done for the Irish fitness industry as a whole through his work with the ISI and his personal education seminar.
