Small group training where nobody else is doing your programme
Six people to a coach. Six different programmes. Yours is written around your injury history, your movement screen and what your body will actually tolerate right now – then it changes every 28 days.
Most places selling small group training are selling one of two things
The first is a class with a smaller headcount. Everybody does the same session. The coach counts you in and counts you down. It’s better than forty people, and it is still the same programme for a 52-year-old with a shoulder she can’t lift overhead and a 29-year-old who plays five-a-side twice a week.
The second is a challenge. Four weeks, twenty-eight days, forty-two days. There’s a start date and a finish line and a before photo. It works, briefly, and then it ends, and the question of what you do in year two was never part of the offer.
Neither one has an answer to the thing you’re actually worried about, which is that you’ll pay for six months, get injured or bored or busy, and quietly stop going. Again.
Forty minutes covering your injury history, a movement screen and a strength baseline. Nobody writes you a session before that happens. The plan is built on evidence about your body – so if something isn’t working, that’s information about the programme, not a verdict on you.
2.
Six to a coach, six programmes
Everyone in the room is working through their own plan on their own phone. This is a business model, not a slogan: it’s how the timetable is built and how many coaches are on the floor. It also means there is nothing in the room to be compared against. No mirrors. No filming.
3.
Every 28 days your coach changes it
Not a check-in. A review. What moved, what didn’t, what the next block does differently. This is the difference between coaching and access to equipment, and it’s why the programme you’re on in month nine bears no resemblance to the one you started with.
4.
The room filters itself
Most people training here are over forty. There’s no ego culture, no under-25s filming sets, and nobody half your age watching you learn something. SEE OUR SESSION SCHEDULE →
Training with the Elite Team really made a difference for me. Before joining Elite, I was casually going to the gym and saw very little difference in my overall health, strength and mobility. All the coaches are amazing but a special shout out to Mitch who was really important on my recovery from a sports injury and was very hands-on with the training, tailoring it for each step of my rehabilitation. Now, 5 months after the injury, I feel even better than before and have much more to go! 5 stars to this crew!
I’ve been going to Elite for 4 months now and am really enjoying the experience. Like minded people of a similar age group in the perfect environment. The coaches are excellent, encouraging and motivating with a bit of friendly banter! Highly recommend for anyone thinking about longevity and looking to get in shape!
The team at Elite are tremendously supportive to all their clients. My husband and I are among their oldest members and had not previously attended a gym for decades. The carefully tailored programme is helping us to regain a good level of fitness - all in a most cheerful and encouraging environment!
I started going to Elite gym in July 2024 after recovering from an exercise related injury. I was quite anxious to start back given the bad experience I had but it has been an incredibly positive experience thus far. The environment is supportive and welcoming, with staff who are always ready to help. Safety is clearly a priority, with well-maintained equipment and guidance available to ensure proper technique and injury prevention. Beyond the workouts, the sense of community here is unmatched. Everyone is encouraging, and I truly feel like I belong. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, this gym fosters an atmosphere where everyone can thrive.
Truly the best gym I have attended. The model suits me so well. Coach driven workout plans that are easy to follow. Ongoing PT help while you workout and one to one coach support. The setup and staff really are fantastic and there is a true community. A lot of firsts for me since joining elite 4 months ago... I've dropped over a stone, I'm running 10k from zero and I feel great. Well done Elite team 👍
Joined over 6 weeks ago and loving it! I feel like I’ve gained so much strength already with the program. The team are so amazing, knowledgeable and friendly 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’ve tried a handful of various commercial/chain gyms over the years but always felt lost, intimidated, overwhelmed by all the equipment, afraid of hurting myself and generally found that most of the trainers weren’t that helpful or encouraging.
Elite is an incredibly warm and welcoming gym, not at all intimidating and there’s always a great atmosphere. Each member is given their own specific program to meet their individual needs and goals. The coaches offer guidance, structure and encouragement at all times (they have much more faith in me than I do!). They’re very realistic about day-to-day life stresses and challenges, they don’t overcomplicate things and just focus on improving people’s quality of life. They’re also very patient and happily answer all of my silly and annoying questions!
I joined Elite about 4 years ago, I go 5 times a week without even thinking about it, it’s just part of my day now. Quite simply, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Very happy to have recently joined up at Elite Gym. Very professional and friendly coaches who are interested in helping each individual reach their own personal goals. I’m coming to the gym at a later stage in life and any nerves I had were quickly assuaged. I feel I am being well supported and encouraged by a well trained and understanding team of personal trainers.
Joining Elite has been such a positive experience. It’s a very different gym experience - for all ages, and fitness levels. It’s helped me to build both confidence and strength.
Elite Gym Blackrock is fantastic! The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. There’s a strong sense of community here, making workouts enjoyable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a welcoming, high-quality gym.
Upon reaching age 60, I could no longer ignore the importance of improving my fitness levels after a lifetime of sedentary work and weight gain. I was drawn to Elite by their 'over 40s' advertisement, which gave me the courage to drop into their office. I was immediately taken with their client-focused approach, as they took my priorities and concerns seriously. Following a comprehensive discussion with a personal coach, they crafted a bespoke program suitable for an absolute beginner like myself, with a gradual progression.
I also appreciate the very knowledgeable approach to designing a program to suit post-menopausal women, with lots of awareness for the different requirements and needs for this age group and individual circumstances.
All the coaches are consistently supportive, helpful, and amiable, contributing to the gym's warm and relaxed environment. Elite gym is a very friendly neighborhood and family setting, and a perfect fit for someone like me, and it's comforting to see 'normal people' at this gym. The absence of mirrors and the non-pressurized environment are particularly appreciated; everyone is exceptionally welcoming, supportive, and encouraging, and other clients are all doing their own program, so no comparisons with anyone else!
The program is managed through the TrueCoach app, and feedback and communication also followed up via the app, but of course also personally through the coaches in the gym.
Now, I find myself looking forward to my exercise sessions instead of dreading them.
The personalized attention from the coaches is also noteworthy. When travel required me to be abroad for a few weeks, Holly prepared a customised personal 'exercise from home' program for me, allowing me to maintain my routine without gym access.
I'm very impressed and motivated, and enjoying exercising for the first time in my life, and think I'm there for the long haul!
I can only recommend to any woman like me over 60 to give Elite a try, you'll find yourself in good hands and company!
As an American living in Dublin, I chose Elite because it was nearby, and they offer a fresh approach for 50-somethings like me. For starters, their coaches/trainers are top notch. They meet with you and design your program. They give you very detailed pointers to make sure you are doing all the exercises correctly -- with proper form. And they oversee your progress and switch up your program so it doesn't get stale.
Along with the coaches, there is the community at Elite, my fellow gym-goers have been very supportive and welcoming. It is a great group of people and for someone who is thousands of miles away from my family and friends they have really made me feel at home.
I have been going to Elite since June 2023 and it has been the most consistent stretch of working out I have had since I was in my 30s. In the year that I have been there I feel like I have substantially improved my level of fitness and have a good foundation for further gains. I will really miss Elite when I return to the Boston next month. There's nothing like it there, so I will have to work hard to find an alternative.
From the moment I stepped inside the door of elite gym I was made feel welcome. Being a man in my 40’s I thought my gym days were over but I was wrong. Every one of the staff are extremely helpful and will help you with any questions you have. For me it’s the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that makes it. It’s the first gym I’ve been in that I actually like going back to

What happens next
Four steps, and you decide at the end of them
1.
You leave your details
A coach rings you. Not an automated email.
2.
You come in for the assessment
Forty minutes. Injury history, movement screen, strength baseline. You’ll be asked what you’ve stopped doing that you’d like to do again.
3.
You’re shown what the coach found
What the movement screen showed and what the first block would do about it. In writing.
Zero risk to start. If Elite isn’t for you in the first 28 days, we’ll refund you in full.
Being straight with you
Who this is not for
If you want a result by a date, this is the wrong place. The first four to six weeks are about movement quality and building a base.
If you want a gym you can use on your own terms – turn up, do your own thing, cancel next month, you’d be paying for coaching you don’t want. There are better-value options in Blackrock and we’ll happily name a few.
If you’re under 40, you’re welcome, but the room, the programming and the pace are built around people who aren’t.
If you’re looking for the cheapest option, this isn’t priced against a gym.
We’re at Unit 5, Brookfield Terrace, Blackrock, Dublin A94 DE42, just off Carysfort Avenue and a short walk from Blackrock DART, easily reached from Monkstown, Booterstown, Stillorgan and Dún Laoghaire.
Monday to Friday, 06:15 to 20:00. Saturday, 07:00 to 11:30.
What does it cost? Membership is quoted after the assessment, once a coach knows what you need and how often you’d train. That’s not a dodge – the answer genuinely differs depending on whether you’re training twice a week or three times. What we can tell you now: this is not priced against a budget gym. It’s priced against having a programme written for you and a coach who reviews it every 28 days. How many people are in a session? No more than six to a coach. I haven’t trained in years. Do I need to get fitter first?
No. The assessment exists precisely because you haven’t trained in years. It’s the starting point, not the entry exam.
It’s the first thing the assessment covers. Members commonly report improved movement and reduced stiffness. If something needs a clinician rather than a coach, we’ll say so.
PS – There’s no deadline on this and nothing is filling up. The only thing a delay costs you is the ground you’d have covered. Strength comes back more slowly at 58 than at 38 – but it comes back, and it comes back faster the sooner you start.
